Our bodies are bruised,
we're stained with this earth,
we keep crossing rivers,
but what is it worth?

Our minds dream of monsters,
we're cut to the bone,
we keep chasing butterflies,
we're a long way from home.

Our future grips heavy fog,
creating daylight zombies, yet,
memories of dead pets elude us,
as waves of regret leave us wet.

Our sickness feeds from exhaustion,
can we weather this storm?
As our life changes direction,
will it get back to the norm?

This poem is about moving on in life. In particular this poem is about moving house and the feelings, emotions and physical exhaustion of doing this.

The emotions that I have tried to convey in this poem are about the regret of the decision to move house. Is it worth it? People have an emotional connection to where they live and although moving house can be exciting it also can bring feelings of regret. The exhaustion that I have portrayed in this poem is from trying to get the house ready for sale by cleaning it yourself. If I had my way again I'd pay someone to clean my house, to get it ready for sale.

So as I write this I feel like a daylight zombie from exhaustion!
